Did you feel the shaking lately? Earthquakes happen without warning. Are you ready for an emergency? It is a fact
of life that accidents do happen. What would you do if your pet was hurt in an accident at the same time you are? You must
travel by ambulance to the ER and who is going to care for your pet? Do you have an emergency plan in place? Make sure
you have someone set up to help your pet if YOU are injured in an accident. Emergency vet contact number, a family member
who can be available to pick up the pet from the scene to care for your dog until you return home. Do you have an emergency
plan in case you don't return home? Who will let you dog out, or feed him if you are delayed for any reason? Just some
things to think about, before they happen.
Having a cage can be ideal if you make it inviting and fun for your pet. Give you pet a favorite toy or snack while caged.
Make sure you have food and water for your pet stored with your other emergency food supplies. Keep shot record and a supply
of necessary medicine, along with your vet's phone number. Make sure you have ID tags always on your pets. Pets
have been know to run away right before, during or after an earthquake. Keep a leash and collar for both a dog and a
cat. Then if someone has to take over care of your pet while you are unavailable, they will be able to find everything
quickly, and make taking care of your pet an easy thing to do. Plan ahead and be prepared to care for your
pet during any type of emergency.

Remember that adding a pet to your household is a lifetime commitment to the welfare of the
pet. Please do not get a pet if you are unable, unwilling or don't want to spend the time and money required to properly care
for and love the pet. Research the breed you want for health issues, temperment, and grooming needs. Good pet care means daily
care of your pet.
